Rehearsal Guide

Rehearsal Guide

Everything you need to know before your first rehearsal at Rock Mill Industries — what's provided, what to bring, the house stage plot, and how to make the most of your slot.

What we provide

  • PA: 6× EV ZLX12P, 4× ZLX15P, 2× ELX18 subs + ELX cabs
  • 6 vocal mics + full drum mic kit (kick in/out, snare top/btm, hi-hat, OHs, toms) + DIs
  • Drum shells (kick, snare, toms), throne, hardware, double pedal
  • Ampeg SVT Pro head + 8×10 cab
  • 2× Marshall TSL2000 + 4×12 cab + misc backup guitar amps
  • Keys: stand, DI, seat (bring your own board)
  • Open 7 AM – 11 PM, 7 days a week

What to bring

  • • Drum sticks + cymbals (and any drum additions)
  • • Your bass, guitars, keys, pedalboards
  • • Instrument cables
  • • Breakables (snare wires, in-ears, etc.)
  • • A USB stick or laptop if you want to record off the board

Load-in tips

  1. 1. Arrive 10–15 minutes before your slot — your booked time includes setup and teardown.
  2. 2. The PA, drums, and bass rig are already set up. Just add cymbals, pedals, and instruments.
  3. 3. Vocal mics live on stands at the front of the room. Run mixer levels before the first song to save time.
  4. 4. Be packed up and out by the end of your slot so the next band can load in.

House stage plot

Standard backline layout in the room. Bring this to your team so everyone knows where to plug in.

Professional rehearsal space vs. a storage unit

Renting a storage unit to practice music sounds cheap on paper, but the hidden costs add up fast: hauling and storing a PA, drums, and amps, heating or cooling a metal box, fighting the acoustics, and losing an hour every session to load-in and setup. Here's how Rock Mill compares to a typical lockout.

What you actually pay for
Rock Mill
  • • Full PA, drums, bass rig, guitar amps included
  • • 50A power, climate-controlled, 7,200 cu ft of air
  • • Tuned room — no boomy concrete walls
  • • Indoor parking, CCTV, secure load-in
  • • Pay only for the hours you actually rehearse
Storage unit lockout
  • • Buy/haul your own PA, drums, amps, cables
  • • Single 15A outlet (if any), no HVAC
  • • Bare metal walls = harsh reflections, hot/cold extremes
  • • Outdoor load-in in any weather, shared hallways
  • • Paying monthly rent whether you play or not

For most bands, an hourly room with the backline already in place works out cheaper per actual hour of rehearsal — and you spend that hour playing, not wiring a PA in a 90-degree storage corridor.

Frequently asked questions

What should I bring to a rehearsal at Rock Mill?

Bring drum sticks, cymbals, any drum additions, your instruments (guitar, bass, keys), pedalboards, and instrument cables. The room provides the PA with full drum mic kit, drum shells + hardware, Ampeg SVT Pro bass rig, Marshall guitar amps, vocal mics, and keyboard stand/DI/seat.

What are your hours?

We're open 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM, 7 days a week. Book any open slot in that window — instant confirmation by email.

How early should I arrive before my booked slot?

Arrive 10–15 minutes before your start time to load in. Your booked time includes setup and teardown — please be packed up and out by the end of your slot so the next band can load in.

Do you provide guitar amps?

Yes. We have 2× Marshall TSL2000 100W heads, a Marshall 4×12 cabinet, and miscellaneous backup guitar amps. Bring your own pedalboard.

What's the bass rig?

Ampeg SVT Pro head with an Ampeg 8×10 cabinet. Power and speaker cable are included — just plug your bass in.

Is there a keyboard?

No keyboard is provided in-house — bring your own board. We do provide a stand, DI box, and adjustable seat.

Can I record a rehearsal?

Yes. The PA has multiple DIs for tracks, keys, or acoustic instruments, plus a full drum mic kit (kick in/out, snare top + bottom, hi-hat, overheads, toms) and 6 vocal channels. Bring a recorder with XLR inputs or DI out of the mixer to your interface.

Is there parking?

Yes — indoor parking is available so you can load in close to the room and keep your vehicle secure.

Can I store my own gear at the space?

Yes. You're welcome to bring and safely store your own gear here. The room is secured and everything is on CCTV.

How does double-booking prevention work?

Once a time slot is booked and paid, no one else can book it. If a slot is taken when you try to book, you'll get the option to join a waitlist for that time.

What's the difference between hourly and Day Rental?

Hourly bookings ($30–$75/hr) use the room as-is with the house PA, drums, bass rig, and guitar amps already set up. Day Rental ($500/day) clears the room completely so you can bring your own production for video, photo, or full-day sessions.
